Why I'm Plant-Based / Vegan

Why I'm Plant-Based / Vegan

Hello, friends! TGIF!

Something that I get asked all πŸ‘πŸ»of πŸ‘πŸ»the πŸ‘πŸ» timeπŸ‘πŸ»: β€œSo, why are you vegan / plant-based?”

I’m going to be sharing a video next week on my journey / story on becoming plant-based, but for today, I wanted to share five reasons that I choose to live this lifestyle and why I believe in it!

I hope you enjoy and if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to leave a comment below or reach out to me directly!

Well hey there! πŸ‘‹πŸ»

If you've been with me for a while, you know that yoga is a huge part of my life. I work part time at a yoga studio and when I'm not practicing there, chances are you can find me flowing on my mat in my home office. Yoga is beneficial for so many reasons (improved flexibility, muscle strength, improved posture, increased blood flow, lowers blood pressure, helps us focus...to name a few) and while many of us appreciate our practice while on our mats (duh), how often are we actually taking our practice with us off of the mat, too?

Fab Five Friday: 5 Things You Need to Start Living a Plant-Based Lifestyle Today

TGIF, friends!

Today we're talking about one of my absolute favorite topics: plant-based living!

I began my plant-based journey in my early 20's after reading the book Skinny Bitch - I basically became a vegetarian overnight. From there, I eventually transitioned into a vegan lifestyle after realizing that cheese / dairy was not making my skin or digestive system happy (if you're interested in learning more about my plant-based journey, leave a comment below!).

Happy Monday!

I hope you had a beautiful weekend! My family was in town for a night and we got to celebrate Father's Day at our house. Yesterday morning, my mom, sister and I took a wonderful yoga class together at Citizen Yoga (if you're in Metro-Detroit, you need to stop into Citizen! You just might see a familiar face!) and my husband and dad went golfing together. While the boys were golfing, my sister, mom and I got our Father's Day lunch together: my mom made chicken piccata, a very yummy pea and caper risotto (vegan version for me) and I made roasted asparagus and a nice big kale and mixed greens salad with carrots, blueberries, raspberries, toasted walnuts and almonds topped with a simple vinaigrette of balsamic vinegar, dijon mustard and my favorite basil olive oil from Fustini's.  We had a wonderful weekend together!
